Sea Born SX281 Offshore Now In Production

(Blackshear, Georgia) Composite Research, Inc. (CRI) announces the release of its tenth model, the all-new, 2018 Sea Born SX281 Offshore.

Celebrated as the Sea Born’s largest and most ambitious model to date, the yacht certified, SX281 Offshore measures 27′ 9″ and clearly targets blue-water anglers, without the loss of significant family charms. On the contrary, the 28-footer has luxuries abound in the form of forward and aft lounges including ultra-comfortable, two-position style captain’s chairs, multiple USB powering stations, premium blue-tooth-enable sound system, cup and rod holders and abundant storage. Taking further from the comforts of home, passengers will appreciate the boat’s in-console head unit with a marble-style counter and freshwater hand sink.

“In the bow, there’s a large comfy lounge area with a stow-away table which makes the forward a great chill-out space, nature watching, or just enjoying the ride. We realize folks are going to fish this boat hard and often, but we wanted to ensure when the family is onboard they are happy.” Cites Seaborn Wally Bell, the company owner, and namesake.

Drafting at 20″, the 281 can certainly operate inside back bays and inlets, but her primary function as an offshore fishing machine means she’ll confidently and proudly pull away from coastlines and engage almost any type of sportfishing. Unique to Sea Born’s SX offshore series, each boat offers the most freeboard of all the company’s models.

“Offshore owners want to feel as if they are inside the boat, not on the boat. Understanding that, every SX adds substantial height helping to keep the kids, friends, and pets a bit more protected.” Says Chief Marketing Officer, Sean McCoy.

Between the console and transom, there’s a large fiberglass live well that’s set behind the captain’s seat with tackle storage. The top of the live well doubles as a rigging station and the clear lid allowing for a quick view of the baits inside. In the aft, Sea Born includes a rear-transom door, a large-dive platform with telescope-style ladder.

As for what’s powering the boat, the 281 is offered with standard twin engines and rated for up to 600 horsepower, a 180-gallon approximate fuel capacity, all atop a performance-cultivating, double-stepped hull. From the captain’s vantage, there’s an exotic-car-like console face, dual Simrad multi-function displays, multiple storage compartments, padded footrest, and even more charging ports. Adding extra to the boat’s value, the SX281 ships with standard t-top and removable side door, finalizing in no uncertain terms, the fish-battling mission of this vessel.

“Following the excitement of our earlier offshore model, the SX239, we saw continued interest to build even larger for the offshore crowd. The 281 is the next big step for Sea Born with many more new models on the horizon.” Continues Bell.

According to company officials, the latest Sea Born is the second boat in a five-boat series of their class with future additions including all-new 24, 26, and 30-foot models.
