What is a Casting Deck?

Once you’ve got your boat in the water, you’ll no doubt want a place to cast a line or two. A casting deck forward, aft or both, is a flat surface (non-skid preferred) that allows you to fish from your boat without obstruction. Forward casting decks often have storage or a live well below, maybe a casting chair seat mount, along with a molded toe rail for improved safety. When you’re not fishing, the casting deck is a great hang out spot and ideal for enjoying the sun.

Do All Boats Have Casting Decks?

No. Although most bay boats have a casting deck, center consoles and/or offshore vessels usually give up this feature for lounge-style seating or an open desk with full access to the bow.
